Installing the Word Add-In for an Individual

Add ThoughtRiver to Microsoft Word application

Whether you have access to download Add-ins from the Office Store or Microsoft AppSource will be subject to your organization's security settings.

If you find you do not have access to install the Add-in yourself, please share Installing the Word Add-In for your Organization and Users with your IT department so they can select from the Microsoft provided solutions for managing Add-in access.

Microsoft Word Online Application

  1. Open Microsoft Word Online
  2. Navigate to the Insert tab and click Office Add-ins
  3. Search for ThoughtRiver and click Add
  4. A ThoughtRiver tab will be available on the toolbar to allow you to open ThoughtRiver within Word Online

To continue, login with the credentials you received with your welcome email.

Microsoft Word Desktop Application

Microsoft Word 2016 and some versions of 2019 use Internet Explorer 11 to display the ThoughtRiver application via the Word Add-In. It is possible that you may encounter performance issues as this browser is no longer supported by Microsoft.

For best performance and full feature support, we suggest you install Edge browser, use Office 365 or Word Online when using the ThoughtRiver Word Add-In.

  1. Open Microsoft Word Desktop
  2. Navigate to the Insert tab and click Get Add-ins
  3. Search for ThoughtRiver and click Add
  4. A ThoughtRiver tab will be available on the toolbar to allow you to open ThoughtRiver within Word Desktop

Microsoft AppSource

You must be logged into a Microsoft account to download Office Add-Ins from AppSource.

  1. Navigate to https://appsource.microsoft.com/ 
  2. Search for ThoughtRiver and click Get it now
  3. You may be prompted to login with your Microsoft account
  4. You'll be taken back to the AppSource store and click Continue
  5. You'll receive a prompt to Open in Word
